Bashie cut her announcing teeth as a former-skater-turned-announcer with The Fort Wayne Derby girls. She knew she was doing something impactful when durning one half time a small child she passed looked up at her father and stated, “That’s the girl that talks a lot!”
Being fluent in cynicism, sarcasm and swearing when the opportunity to take her limited skills in front of adult audience presented itself she couldn’t pass it up.
Her self-depreciating and warped sense of humor along with her ability to roll with things while keeping and audience both engaged and mostly in line come from her involvement in theater as a young person and her day job in patient care. After years spent dodging insults and swings from unruly patients, trading jabs with audience members is a breeze. And going home wearing glitter as opposed to bodily fluids is easier to deal with–although sometimes harder to clean.
